I Saw....

The day is almost here that I will become a grandmother. Over the last few weeks I have looked over my life to see if there is something I missed along the way. There isn't. I raised a fine son and watched him grow into a good man. I look back and remember that:

I saw his little face when he was born and couldn't have been happier.
I saw him develop a profound love of reading and great imagination.
I saw his struggle with everyday kid things and learn to get through them on his own.
I saw his first broken heart as a teenager.
I saw his growing independence.
I saw him become a fabulous musician.
I saw him graduate from high school and then college with excellent grades.
I saw him get his first apartment.
I saw him find the love of his life.
I saw him marry her.

Soon I will be able to add:

I saw him holding his own daughter.

When I look back I know I haven't missed the important things. I watched and saw all the things that help make him what he is today. When I see my granddaughter for the first time I will know that (as my son says), my bucket list will be complete. I will have seen all of the things that are important to me. I can be happy about that. :o)
